Organizational Overview
The Electric Power Reserve Exchange (an unincorporated association) was jointly established by nine general electricity transmission and distribution utilities on March 17, 2021 and has been operating the supply and demand balancing market, which commenced operations on April 1, 2021.
Considering that market trading of all product categories from primary balancing capacity to tertiary balancing capacity (2) started in fiscal 2024 and the increasing importance of market operations, the Electric Power Reserve Exchange was incorporated as a legal entity to further enhance the stability, transparency, neutrality of the supply and demand balancing market and build a more resilient operational framework in preparation for unforeseen problems.
The Electric Power Reserve Exchange, a general incorporated association, assumed the market operations of the unincorporated Electric Power Reserve Exchange and commenced operation on April 1, 2024.
